Tar Heels Less Than Impressive

UNC's basketball team looked less like a major contender in their first two games, and more like a bunch of pick-up basketball players on a neighborhood playground.  Seriously, The Tar Heels seemed rather unassuming and passive at times, as their most talented and most experienced two players sat over on the Carolina bench in suits and ties.  It is rather difficult to visualize what this team will actually look like whenever these two "bad boys" come out of their delinquent suspensions and re-join the team, not just in practice, but on the playing court during games.

Beating Oakland 84-61 on November 8, the Tar Heels fared well during the first half, jumping out to a 58-21 lead at halftime, but looked lethargic after halftime as Oakland came out and actually outscored the Heels.  Then last night [November 15], Carolina came within just a hair [or two] of risking defeat, beating Holy Cross by single digits, 62-54.

I remember days gone by, of Michael Jordan's game-winning shots, down-low domination with "Psycho T", and more recently Kendall Marshall and his gang running full-court from one end to the other.  I'm too used to this kind of success and motivated play to enjoy or even tolerate this kind of play from the Tar Heels.

I also saw that Duke lost to Kansas this past week.  Wow- don't expect them to be that kind to UNC, especially if they play as unemotional as they did in most of these two games.
